When you’re at home, you never worry about the Data usage while browsing the Internet through your mobile. However, when you’re not at home and using your Cellular Data, you’re always concerned about the data usage. Well, even if you’re not browsing Internet, there are apps running in the background which may consume your data as soon as you turn on your Cellular Data. The most common App is WhatsApp. WhatsApp is always running in the background, hence, as soon you turn on your cellular data, it starts retrieving messages and downloading media files automatically (if set to auto download). Although you can disable automatic media downloading but you still cannot disable automatic messages downloading. Here, we have a quick solution for you to Restrict the WhatsApp to WiFi only on Android Devices:
- Considering you have Android 4.4, 5 or newer version, go to “Settings” Menu of your smartphone.
- Tap on “Data Usage” option. You will see a menu with a list of all the apps using your data and Wifi both.
- While your Network Tab is selected (Reliance MP Here), Tap on “WhatsApp”.
- Now, in the “Restrict app background data“, enable the option. Â (Should turn Green)
Now, your WhatsApp will only use your network data bandwidth if you intentionally open it yourself. Hence, it won’t automatically fetch messages or download media files in the background. This is a pretty useful trick to save your Cellular Data Bandwidth. You can turn on the background data anytime you want. However, if you change your mobile network (SIM), you may need to do follow the same procedure again. Also, if you disable or re-install the app, you may need to do this again .
Apart from this, you can work from anywhere on any Android device and access your Windows Applications with a virtual cloud desktop by CloudDesktopOnline.com . Be more productive with SharePoint and Office 365 by Apps4Rent .
NOTE: Although this method will Restrict WhatsApp to Wifi , you can follow the same procedure to restrict other Android Apps from using your cellular data bandwidth in the background.
