1. Enable 2-Step Verification

If you are on G-mail, this is a must-enable feature for securing your account from superfluous inclusion of a third party. When you activate 2-step verification, you have to provide a mobile number to Google, which will allow you to access G-mail on new devices. Google, in return, sends an SMS on the provided number with an exclusive verification code. Simply, go to your Google settings page and then navigate to the edit link of 2-Step Verification text.

In case you encounter any unusual activity, make sure to sign out from all the other sessions by simply clicking on the link. Google also provides Alert preferences setup to record unusual activity. Remember, hackers will always try to find any loop holes in your security settings. How to Update

You can either update your phone software through your mobile. You will need GPRS/EDGE connectivity for this. Go to Settings > Phone > Phone Update > Downl.phone sw. Make sure you’ve made the back ups of your mobile data.

While Aakash 2 is on it’s way, these 3 new tablets from BSNL could be a great competitor. The cheapest version of Tpad which costs around Rs 3,250 will consist of Wi-Fi. HDMI Port, 7 inch resistive touch screen, 1GHz processor, VGA Camera and Android 2.3. Though it has a better processor than cheapest Aakash tablet but still it is around Rs 600 more from the cheapest Aakash tablet.

The other 2 TPad tablets are bit expensive and will cost around Rs 11,000 and 13,000 with extra features like Bluetooth, a better 2MP front camera, A-GPS and a better processor.

More details of this device are yet to follow. As far about the comparison with Aakash tablets, it is hard to say anything at the moment cause we can never judge the quality of a device just by it’s specifications.

• Enable Secure Browsing

Go to ‘Account Settings’ and then click on “Security” option from the left Navigation menu. You can also directly go to this link. Now click on “Edit” link which is just after “Secure Browsing” label. Select the checkbox and click on ‘Save Changes’. This will enable the ‘https’ secure browsing and will not allow unsecured and connections with expired SSL certificates.

• Enable Login Notification

To do this, go to the same ‘Security‘ option mentioned above. Click on ‘Edit’ link which is provided after the ‘Login Notifications’ label.  Select the Email/Text Message checkbox (as per your choice) and click on ‘Save Changes’ . Now, whenever you (or anyone) will login to your account, you will receive a notification from Facebook giving you the details of the login session. If you don’t want to receive notifications for your own trusted logins and your devices, such as home computer, you can manage that in ‘Recognized Devices’ .On the same ‘Security’ page, click on ‘Edit’ link after the ‘Recognized Devices’ label. Now, remove any unrecognized device and let the known devices remain there. You will not receive Login Notifications for the devices which are added into the ‘Recognized Devices’ list.

• Choose a Strong Password

It’s really important to choose and strong password. Weak passwords like your name, your birth date/month, your Girlfriend’s name etc. can be easily cracked hence one should use a very strong Password. Try to use Numbers, alphabets (both uppercase and lowercase) and special characters like (!@#$%^~). For example techTeriA8912~!@ and similar passwords are well effective and strong. If you can’t remember it, try to use any Password management application or simply write in a Text file and save it on a secure place in your computer.

• Don’t Give your Email Address

Never give your email address which is your Primary email ID for logging into your Facebook account. If you want to give your profile details, you can first create a Username for your profile and then give it to your friends. Once your primary email is known to a hacker, he can either simple try logging in from the Facebook login or he can simple hack the specified email account and retrieve password through it.

• Avoid Adding Unknown People

It’s always better not to add unknown people in your friend list. Once a person is added into your friend list, he will get more privileges to view information of your Facebook Account. You can never trust the intentions of unknown people. Enable “Profile Subscriptions‘  and the person will be subscribed automatically to your status updates with no extra permissions to view the information of your account.
